SERIES DESCRIPTION:
Days come and go: too harsh, too busy, too connected to our sense of urgency. But our connection to the natural world is not a luxury. We need time and place to remind us that we are whole and part of a vast web of interconnection as part of nature and deeper time.
Join us for a five-week series of nature exploration and meditative walks to reclaim and experience & learn about your place in the natural world.
We will be your guides to…
* Experience and revel in the awe and wonder of our Sonoran Sky Islands desert as we transition from winter to spring seasons
* Learn about our resident birds, mammals, and reptiles. Learn the interaction between wildlife and their habitat and “communication” between them.
* Connect to nature through your heightened senses and receive the mental and physical health benefits of nature bathing
* Awaken your passion for the earth, the web of life and its deeper time cycles
* Create a reciprocal relationship with the natural world by allowing nature to help you decompress and rejuvenate your wilder soul.
* Take in the natural medicine of the land by sharing foraged tea and snacks on each walk
What: A Series of FIVE EXPERIENCES in nature with the journey as the focus, each with a unique immersion into our Sonoran ecosystem. Expect to walk at an easy/comfortable pace somewhere between 1-4 miles on uneven terrain, have quiet sit spots in nature, learn about our Sky Island and desert ecosystems, and have locally foraged tea and snacks.
When: The Series will take place on Wednesdays from 8 AM-12 PM (typically leave 7 am and back to Tucson by 1 pm) over the course of 5 weeks from March 12 – April 9. We designed this series to take enough time in the natural world (and away from the human world) each week to let the built world truly dissolve and to see the incredible transformation of our Sonoran ecosystem from winter to spring.
Where: Each excursion will take place within an hour drive of midtown Tucson, including the Santa Rita and the Catalina Mountains and surrounds. We encourage carpooling and will connect participants.
Who: Our hikes are limited to six people so we disturb the wildlife as little as possible and provide the intimacy of a small-group setting. Participants should be able to walk 1-4 miles on uneven trails at an easy pace and be able to sit for stretches of time on a cloth on the ground.
Price: $350 (for the Series) including locally foraged tea and snacks on each walk. $85 Drop-in rate if space available.
Why: To nourish your soul in our unique local nature, heighten your senses and awareness to the natural world around you and your connection to it, and experience the awe and wonder of the ecology of its inhabitants. Connect with a community of like-minded nature seekers and to reclaim your solace in wild places. Join us because you are a whole human who belongs as part of nature -not separate from it- and part of a supportive community of human beings.
